Pick #7 — Sarah Oh builds soft 3D worlds for Snapchat, Google, and Android, then draws shrimp for fun
Today's designer: Sarah Oh (California), multidisciplinary motion designer, art director, and illustrator. She made the custom Snapchat Plus app icons, Android's logo launch illustration, style frames for Sirius XM, and editorial drawings for The Verge and NPR — all in her signature soft-3D, periwinkle-sage palette. Portfolio at sarahoh.info.
Sarah Oh is a motion designer, art director, and illustrator based in California. Her portfolio lives at sarahoh.info — a clean, Cargo-built site that opens with 3D creatures floating on a white background: a nautilus shell, a fat blue bird, a fuzzy caterpillar. Below that, client work for Snapchat, Robinhood, Google, and Android.

The creatures on her homepage aren't decorative warmup pieces. They're from her actual client deliverables — icons, campaign assets, editorial illustrations — just stripped of their original context and let loose on the page. That gap between "technically commercial work" and "feels like personal art" is what makes the portfolio worth browsing.
Her signature is a specific type of 3D softness: forms that look squishable, colors that hover in the periwinkle-sage-apricot range, compositions that feel friendly without being childish. The Sirius XM style frames she produced at Brand New School show this most clearly — a flat-rendered woman with an orange cat, domestic and warm, the kind of illustration that reads immediately but doesn't explain itself.
For the Android Spotlight Series, she handled storyboards and style frames across multiple 30-second ads, including a segment for Android's Wear OS feature launch. She also drew the illustration for Android's new logo announcement. Neither of these are portfolio pieces you'd see on most motion designers' sites — they're the behind-the-scenes craft work that moves production forward.
The Snapchat Plus project is the other kind: full branding work, custom app icons, animated capture buttons, chat wallpapers. Some of it was presented at Snap's product summit. The fact that this and the Android illustration work sit next to personal shrimp drawings and NPR editorial commissions without tonal whiplash says something about how consistently she's built out her visual voice.
